Our team of engineers are experienced in the steps necessary to build out your current packaging process into one that has higher OEE, lower labor inputs and results in a more profitable line,
We can handle the entire Project Management process for you and deliver a turnkey automated packaging line, but sometimes you only need certain services to complete your project. It may make more sense to hire those services for the limited time rather than a full time employee and expect them to handle all of it. Some of the engineering services RSE can provide on a contract basis include:
Automation Audit. Sometimes running plant causes a person to see the details of the operation but lose sight of where the larger improvements can be made via automation. An Automation Audit can provide you with a summary of where your packaging process can be improved. It will give you a line item estimate for the equipment and the opportunities for ROI projections and labor reduction. This can be helpful in developing your plans for automation now or in the future as well as documents for your financing needs.
Scope of Work Development. Your project starts with determination of what should be in scope and what is not. SOW development includes reviewing all of your products and packages, run rates, future projections, internal constraints etc to develop the SOW. No considerations should be left out. This can be tied to an Automation Audit to determine what existing equipment can be employed in the new production line.
Example of Equipment Selection Report. There are many manufacture and model options for almost every type of packaging step and many criteria for the selection. Criteria include: Run rates, manufacturer origin, maintenance support, price, reputation, parts availability and more. RSE has broad experience with many OEMs and can help you determine the right selection based on your SOW for each piece needed to complete the line.
CAD Drawings. Before you start buying equipment, you should know the process flow, layout, utility requirements and more. A CAD drawing will provide all of that so you can review with your electrician and plumber to drop in utilities in the correct location BEFORE the equipment arrives. You may also need this for your municipality if you are pulling permits.
Control Panels and Programming. Packaging lines typically run with higher efficiency if there is a Master Control Panel programmed to coordinate the operations of the equipment involved. Turning conveyors on and off, controlling VFDs and equipment operation through a single PLC can improve efficiency, up time and profitability of the line. We can review your process for improvements possible via MCP deployment. We can design and build the MCP and handle the programming and installation.
Project Management. Project management can mean any of the steps above or all of them combined Plus. The Plus means handling your entire project for you. Going through the steps above and ordering equipment, managing the GANTT chart, scheduling shipping, delivery, installation, commissioning and training.
